The words are correct. The understanding is absent. He’s building things. And lecturing along the way…

ABILITIES
Incantation Recall (Passive)
Can recite terminology from multiple schools of magic: “nondeterministic,” “adversarial validation,” “split-brain,” “race conditions,” “assume failure, add redundancy.” The words are real. They came from real textbooks. They were on the exam.
Domain Jump (1/post)
Seamlessly transitions from one problem space to an entirely different one mid-argument. Begins discussing code generation. Ends discussing agentic runtime validation. No awareness that these are different domains requiring different solutions. The jump is invisible to the caster.
Solution Hammer (1/post)
Recently learned about multi-agent validation patterns. Now everything looks like a use case for adversarial AI agents—including problems already solved by decades of software engineering practice.
Cargo Cult Engineering (Passive)
Knows that distributed systems achieve reliability through redundancy and failure tolerance. Misunderstands how. Believes split-brain scenarios are solved through “agents challenging assumptions” rather than deterministic quorum protocols. Thinks race conditions require negotiation rather than locks and atomic operations. But confidence overwhelms all.
WEAKNESSES
The Solved Problem
AI-generated buggy code is… buggy code. Programmers have always written buggy code. All of them. Every single one. Code reviews. Unit tests. Integration tests. Static analysis. CI/CD pipelines. The infrastructure exists to combat the human condition. It works reasonably well. AI-generated code slots directly into it. Generate. Review. Test. The Wizard has forgotten this infrastructure exists—or never learned it was already the solution to the problem he’s describing.
The Quorum Blindness
Split-brain is solved mathematically. N/2+1 nodes. Witness nodes. Fencing mechanisms. Deterministic protocols that eliminate the need for judgment. The Wizard learned the problem existed. He did not learn how it is actually solved. Instead, seems to think these systems are somehow judgement based or subjective in nature.
Lock Amnesia
Race conditions are solved with locks, atomic operations, compare-and-swap, deterministic ordering. Not “adversarial validation.” Not “agents inspecting behavior.” The Wizard remembers that race conditions are hard. He does not remember the actual solutions. Nor does he understand the judo moves often applied such as eventual concurrence.
The Conflation
The Wizard does not distinguish between:
- AI as toolsmith (generates code artifacts you then test)
- AI as executor (runs live, makes decisions at runtime)
The solutions appropriate for one are irrelevant to the other. The Wizard does not see two categories. He sees one blur.
EQUIPMENT
- The Vocabulary Amulet — “Nondeterministic.” “Adversarial validation.” “Gauntlets not gates.” Grants +2 to appearance of expertise.
- The Completed Coursework — Source of all incantations. Mixed together. Misremembered.
- The Hefty Title — Worn visibly. “AI Solutions Architect.”
SPECIMEN BEHAVIOR
The Wizard posted a sermon on building reliable AI systems. The core argument:
- Begins with strawman: people try to make AI-generated code never make mistakes
- Correctly notes LLMs are nondeterministic and will make errors
- Invokes distributed systems wisdom: “unreliable components can still produce reliable systems”
- Lists failure modes: networks fail, disks fail, nodes fail
- Proposes solution: AI agents adversarially validating other AI agents
ANALYSIS
LLMs are nondeterministic. They do make mistakes. Reliable systems can be built from unreliable components. These statements on their own are true. They were in the textbook.
Programmers have always been nondeterministic, error-prone components. Every programmer writes bugs. Every single one. This is not a new problem introduced by AI. It is the oldest problem in software development.
Code review. Unit tests. Integration tests. Static analysis. CI/CD pipelines. Staging environments. The entire discipline of software quality assurance exists because humans write buggy code and need well disciplined, structured approaches to catch it.
AI-generated code is code. From another fallible source that might as well be another fallible human. It slots directly into the existing infrastructure. The Wizard proposes elaborate multi-agent validation architectures at runtime instead, while standing in front of a fully functional testing framework he apparently cannot see?
The distributed systems analogy collapses immediately. When networks fail, we don’t solve it with “other networks judging whether the failure was real.” We solve it with deterministic protocols—timeout thresholds, retry logic, circuit breakers. When split-brain occurs, we don’t have “agents challenging assumptions.” We have quorum requirements that mathematically prevent conflicting writes. Race conditions aren’t resolved through adversarial inspection.
The Wizard learned that these problems exist. He did not learn how they are actually solved. He pattern-matched “multiple things checking each other” as the solution, when the real solutions are formal protocols that eliminate subjective judgment entirely. And by the way, those formal protocols are written by humans who occasionally mess them up, and therefore use test suites to validate them.
He jumped domains without noticing. He’s proposing runtime agent validation for compile-time artifact problems.
There is a version of this argument that would be coherent, if overwrought: “Code review is already adversarial validation. We’ve been doing this all along.”
That would be a realization. A connection. An insight that the infrastructure already exists. It’s not a problem.
But that is not what the Wizard is saying. He is proposing new approaches to agentic runtime execution in place of deterministic systems. Gauntlets. Adversarial validation. Novel architecture substituted for solved problems.
This is not merely a LinkedIn post. This is a person who architects systems. He will propose multi-agent validation frameworks for problems that need unit tests. He will invoke distributed systems concepts while misunderstanding their solutions. He will build elaborate, sophisticated-sounding architectures that solve the wrong problems in the wrong ways.
And he will do it with complete confidence. Because he did pass the exam apparently.
ENCOUNTER NOTES
Lessons: The Third Law produces technical magical thinking. Incantations with the aesthetic of engineering rigor but the substance of misremembered coursework. The Wizard is not a fraud. He is not pretending. He genuinely believes he understands these systems. He has the credentials. He will build things. God help anyone nearby when he does.
