BIOGRAPHY
A true believer who has found providence in the machine. Where others see disruption, the Cleric sees divine timing. Where others count costs, she weighs souls. The technology arrived now, at this moment, for a reason. To reject it is not prudence—it is faithlessness. The Cleric doesn’t craft golems or flee homunculi. She channels. The power flows through her, from above, through others’ actions, toward (her defined) purpose.

ABILITIES
Divine Timing (Passive) All technological emergence is providence. The tool arrived when it did because it was sent. Questioning the timing is questioning the Sender.
Sacred Genealogy (1/post) Places AI in lineage with previous blessed technologies: the printing press, the radio, the film projector. Each extended the reach of the Word. AI is next. Listeners must save vs. Wisdom or accept the lineage as natural rather than constructed.
Stewardship Reframe (Reaction) Converts any cost-benefit analysis into moral calculus. “$50 million on [human-work/labor] is $50 million not spent on human need.” Efficiency becomes virtue. Thrift becomes righteousness. Opponents arguing for quality or craft must now defend expense itself.
WEAKNESSES
The Rival Deity The logic sanctifies AI in service of her Word. The same technology amplifying a rival gospel—the Church of the Iron Serpent, the Temple of the Obsidian Flame—would not be providence. It would be corruption.
Selective Genealogy The radio did spread sermons. It also spread propaganda. Each sacred ancestor in the lineage has a shadow the Cleric does not mention. The genealogy is curated.
Stewardship Recursion If $50M on [work] is poor stewardship, what of $5M? $500K? Is all work suspect? The logic, followed consistently, devours all work/industry/endeavors that are not her own.
EQUIPMENT
- The Voiceless Millions — Invoked as needed. Their silence justifies the tool; their hypothetical empowerment defeats opposition; their indoctrination is the unspoken goal.
ANALYSIS
What The Cleric Gets Right: More than most. The democratization argument is real—barriers to creative production are falling. The historical parallel has genuine weight—new communication technologies have amplified messages, including sacred ones. The internal logic is coherent: if spreading the Word is paramount, and AI spreads words faster and cheaper, then AI serves the paramount goal.
What The Cleric Doesn’t Discuss: The frame has a hidden clause. Her argument works perfectly—for her deity. The same technology in service of a rival faith (or worse, an agnostic/atheistic goal) would not be providence. It would be proliferation of darkness.
What The Cleric Therefore Knows: She will one day ask you to take up the sword and strike down believers of rival faiths. She is a war monger. Wrapped in a heavenly veil.
ENCOUNTER NOTES
Lessons: The Cleric is not irrational. She is theological. The Third Law produces not only crypto-religion but overt religion: explicit faith that the magic is divine, that the timing is providential, that the tool is a gift. Within the faith, this is wisdom. The inquisitions and crusades that eventually develop are unfortunate…
